I'm looking out for a gamers graphics card. And ATI preferably. I have integrated graphics right now. I'm looking out for one that will be able to run Oblivion:Elder Scrolls. My brother has been looking for a mod to take out the blood so I will be ale to play the game, but he says I need a good graphics card first to handle it.

Graphics cards aren't used very much for things like photo / video / etc editing (those are CPU intensive), but for games they are very important. I would recommend not skimping and getting an 8800, 9600, 9800, or gtx series card if you choose nvidia. As for ATI, I have no knowledge at all of their model numbers.

If I were you I would go with a Nvidia GeForce 9500xl or GeForce Pro.AWESOME TEXTURE MAPPING (assuming you have a processor capable of doing such. You can get this or a comparable type for around 100.00 dollars. hoped this helped! anything else just ask.Bye

At this moment I have an nVidea 9800GT and it works great! I have all settings set on using Custom, that I find important all textures are full, drawing distances are all on max, Laser occlusion is on etc. And I only start to have little lag with 6x Anti-Aliasing. with 8x I have ~19 FPS. 5x Anti-ALiasing is around 32 fps.

@DSB You are forgetting one important thing though. if you have one of those nVidea cards with over a 1000 GPU's you'll be able to videoedit way easier. Reason being is that all those GPU will take on the work as an CPU if they're left unused. But that's just an exception.
Experiencing lag? Lookie here!

For anyone wondering if their computer is capable of running a certain game, I personally use this site: http://www.systemreq...referrer/srtest

I recently upgraded my video card, though not by much because the high end cards are rather expensive. However, according to that site, it says I meet the recommended settings for RCT3. I still get lag with high settings (antialiasing x8, shadows, etc). It's basically just a baseline read of what your computer is capable of.

That's a good site.

It's a bit depressing my ageing iMac won't meet the requirements for some of these new games. :(

One thing I hate more than anything is people asking questions that are already answered.
Please, read the forums and pinned topics before asking obvious questions.

The type of graphics card you should get really depends on why kind of computer you have to start with. The initial build and tech specs. The graphics card should be compatible with the computer you have. I have a ATI Radeon 4850(if i remember correctly). It runs very well.

For the most part though, most graphics cards on the market today will work in any computer at least 2-3 years old or newer. Even the junky overpriced stuff you can find at a big box store, has a PCIx16 slot in it.

For RCT3 though, integrated graphics in newer systems will be able to handle the game fairly well, until the sun goes down, and the lights come on. RCT3 is not a new game. So it can run pretty well on any system. Heck it even ran on a five year old laptop of mine, that can't even handle games from 2002 :0

A cheap 30-40 dollar graphics card on newegg, or amazon will be able to run RCT3.

I remember when RCT3 was released and I didn't think I would be able to play it, and I was shocked that I could, but the second the peeps came into the park it would ruin the performance..... But no I play with a NVidia GEFORCE 9400m and it runs like a dream... LOVE IT!

Typically the 9400 isn't viewed as a power house card, however RCT3 is getting old. RIP RCT 4
