I am going to allow this but I think you should fix the poll.
custom mortars aren't really that necessary, as long as you have mortars, you'll be fine no matter what type.
Also there are other things you should take into account in your poll.
What about the music?
What about the choreography and syncing?
What about an option that says: all of the above?

Yes, you need an all of the above option. For example, I have awesome syncs, fantastic effects and extreme explosions, thats going to do nothing with a little square for a set. The same goes vise-versa. The custom mortars really dont matter, people can use the ingame ones pretty well, but having them is a little bit of an advantage. All in all, all of the above.

I think the pyro is too but then again you have to think really hard. Pyro is nothing without the scenary because without that then it just looks plain and dull. I had to think really hard for this one.....I still think pyro is don't get me wrong but think about it what is pyro without the sets to go along with it.

Having to chose one option is much akin to buying a horse with three legs. You just don't have a fireworks show without the pyro, music, and setting. As far as the mortars go, I could care less. I look at it in a real-life perspective. At Disney, I *LOOKED* for the mortars....and couldn't find them....only to discover they'd been "hidden in plain sight" when it came time for the show, props were removed from them and they were loaded up to fire.

My vote is not on this list. It's an "All Of The Above"

well you need a fantastic stage because ive never seen a proffesional firework show on grass xD well the firework is also a big part and the mortars could help you much..

Out of those three choices, I would go with the set/stage. i mean, seriosuly, you can't have a perfect show without a set! Haha. But if the three choices were Set/stage, Fireowkrs (or something related to that concept), and custom mortars, i would go with fireworks. :)

Your all wrong... Pyro and the set has nothing to do with making a great show. Its all about the synchronization and the music to go with it. Then it would probably come the colour chapters, then set and then pyro.

A set / stage has nothing to do with a good show. O_O I remember everyone on the old site saying that sets were king for the show and flaming other people for not designing them. However, the vast majority of fireworks displays the mortars are buried in sand, bolted to trailers, or set in reinforced racks on grass, rooftops, and barges.

Sure you have some parks like Disney that go all out, but that is the exception rather than the rule. Cedar Point's nightly show is a proximate display that uses their giant movie screen and music, but no real set. Their large displays, the mortars are buried in a section of the beach not far from the main entrance.

A good show does not need anything but excellent timing and flow with fireworks. Keep people guessing what is going to happen next and keep the entire viewing area full. Mix ground, mine, and different height shells to get this effect. Color and effects are also important, the 'sky puke' can be used sparingly to overwhelm the senses of the audience. Great synchronization with music and other effects only adds to this. But you want people looking up in the air, not at a set.

hmm interesting opinion but then again this ain't no real life. You don't actually feel the presurre waves of fireworks and you dont hear the big booms etc. This all needs compensation which is a set. It gives the show designer playroom with the ground and air! Its just what makes rct3 good. Doing things with your own imagination. Nothing expensive just how you would love to see a show.

And to be honest i've never seen a good show without a set in rct3. it all just makes it empty but thats me though. with a set you can get so much more out of a show.

The ONLY show I've seen pulled off nicely without a set is Vander's "Rhythms of Fire."

But then again, it wasn't really a "show," per say.

I'd actually say that there's nearly a 50/50 balance between displays and staging, but given the choice I'd place greater weight on the display side.

I think the way the fireworks are displayed and the show determines the set and stage. Custom mortars help to be more unique, but I believe the best fireworks come first

I say SETS/STAGE only because fireworks always look good but if you are having full shows, you most likely want a Center Piece for the fireworks to come off and that a Stage / Set. It looks good with fireworks in the sky but it looks better when you see a stage with that same theme, etc. :)

I have only been a member...or pending member that is,for 2 days. i hate to start an argument on this but. As far as the fireworks, set, stage, background, mortars, etc. being more important than the others.....It does not matter if you have the best mortars, or the best shells, or the best setup.as long as you have a good imagination and somewhat of a general knowledge of pyrotechnics, then your show starts in your head.so if you really want to know which is more important.....just close your eyes, smell the black powder, and listen to a symphany of wonderous booms. all pyro is great....just got to decide where and when and how many devices you want to fire at any time! I guess i could be wrong but thats just my 2 cents! thanks

I think it's a little bit of all.

The important things i think are the music, the choreography
and the scenery.

what do you want with the best firework but the worst music?

(sorry for my english i'm not so good in writing)

Fireworks ofcourse.. Having a great set with bad fireworks is worse than a bad set with awsome fireworks. That's when I must choose, a combination is better ofcourse... ^_^

In my opinion, everything should be perfectly balanced. You can't make a fireworks show with just a blank terrain, it would just look weird. Yes, I know we're supposed to be focusing on the fireworks but what good is realistic fireworks if you're shooting them off in the middle of nowhere :)

I say set/stage, because you cant have a good display with just pyro every show should have some kinda background to it to get it to stand out more and make it better.
