Premium Membership Updates

Some of you will be pleased to know that I have added Premium Memberships on cheaper/lower terms. Instead of the option for 6 months or a year, you may now purchase:

-- Monthly.
-- Quarterly (3 months)
-- Six months
-- Yearly
-- LIFETIME

The biggest benefit to these, from your perspective, is that it allows you to bypass all forms of admission and allows you to download straight away. From our perspective, it allows to keep vPyro hosted and pay for software upgrades/purchases. It's literally win-win; plus you get a lot of other features. They are fairly cheap, with the ability to have a lifetime membership for only $120.

Check it out: http://forums.vpyro.com/index.php?act=paysubs&CODE=index

vPyro Admission System

The post to download system was having a lot of issues, and steps have been taken to eliminate those issues. The result is a new vPyro Admission System, it works thusly:

1) When you register as a member, all your posts are under moderator preview and we allow them to be published if they are worthy.
2) You cannot download. (See below)
3) When we feel you've contributed enough, you will be moved to Full Members where you can post and download as much as you want.

It's a very controlled way of entry, but ensures only those who are dedicated can slip through. The new members have access to a forum with all the information they need; this is just an announcement of change.

Thank you.

A while ago now conrail92 posted a mac widget that gave you the latest news from the former RCTPyro, recently I've had a look into it and have since recoded it and given it a new 'vPyro' look. It's still undergoing some testing and I'm just ironing out the bugs but here's a taster:

http://forums.vpyro.com/post-a1657-Picture-2.png.html

It may or may not look slightly different once released but I plan to release it within this week. It's only for Mac and I haven't looked into making one for Windows, although I don't think you can. Comments please!

Spelling and Grammar

Well, everyone, the the results are in and I am overjoyed to announce that the people who turned out to vote wanted this rule back in force. For those who are new to vPyro, here's a small history lesson.

Quite a while back we had a rule that prohibited excessive bad spelling grammar (read: excessive, missing punctuation marks etc is not punishable). The reason for this was simple, we were and still are sick of children and lazy people coming in and typing like English is in its infancy. The utter butchery of the language we've witnessed is astounding. This forum is not and never will be a local place for you to be lazy and throw internet words and immaturity around. It is a community and we've worked long and hard to make it what it is today. Every modern browser supports spell check, you have no excuses.

From today onwards, it is against the rules to spell and use grammar inappropriately or in a grossly wrong way.

-- No, this does not mean you will be punished for missing the occasional punctuation mark or full stop.

To the lazy people, get your act together or don't post.
To sloppy posters, use spell checking and put the effort in.
To foreign visitors, this forum is English only. Spell check or do the best you can.

You should know by now we enforce the rules vigourously, so do not test us. You can thank yourself lucky our punishments aren't as harsh. Some forums AUTOMATICALLY ban you if you spell incorrectly.

The internet is plagued with unintelligible children and lazy illiterate people. I will not allow it to transfer to vPyro.

Thank you.

New Moderator!

Some of you more observant and active members may have noticed there's a new moderator in town.

Congratulations to Wodger!

Wodger (Pete) has been promoted to the rank of moderator for his thorough, thoughtful and productive contributions to the forum. As you'll see in my signature, the key to being a productive and valuable member is not your post count, but rather the quality in which you post. It's better to have few exceptional posts than a ton of spam. Wodger has, in such a short span of time, proved to be a great member of this forum. He's always there to add thoughtful comments on shows and provide input on all things.

For those out there looking to join our team, bear in mind what I have said above. It's about quality, not quantity - whether that be posts or time spent on the forum.

Let it not be said that hard work is not rewarded.

Welcome Pete!

If you use AIM please pay attention. If recently you have recieved a message saying, "I made this picture for you" DO NOT CLICK THE LINK. The Link can even come from one of your buddies. If within the last 24 hours you have clicked the link your computer may be at risk. First I suggest if you have been on AIM recently run a scan using McAfee or other security products. If an item is quarantinned immediatly delete it. I am working on finding more solutions to this issue, but for now I highly suggest running a scan just so that you can be on the safe side especially as a virus can crash you computer. On July 24th, 2009, IlyxR Dynamics and Fyre Teknix will go head to head in an all-out battle royale. Each team will provide three shows that they have have prepared for competition to be judged by the members of the vpyro community. Each show will be individually judged according to a list of criteria on various aspects of the display and its design. Those scores will be submitted and tallied in private to assure no one knows the official results until they're ready to be released. Not even the site staff will know the results in advance. Once the scores are announced, another set of smaller awards will be handed out for specialty accolades (set design, soundtrack, effects...ect). In addition to the showdown, there will be an open invitation for an amateur contest where members of the community that are not part of a company can submit their work for some awesome prizes.
A Sad Moment For vPyro

Hi vPyro. No, I'm not the original Theoretical, but, I am his brother. I have sad news to tell you. You all may know Theoretical as a normal person on vPyro, or a former member of a fireworks group. The sad news is, Theoretical, my brother Josh, died last night after being in the hospital for about two weeks after being in a tragic car accident. I am very sad to tell you this news, but, I was just looking through his old internet history, and saw this. I didn't know where to post this, but, I felt I should post it. I will not do any fireworks work on here, but only visit to watch you talented people who play RCT3. My brother Josh used to always talk about RCT3, even at dinner. He told us that he printed out all these guides to make his fireworks perfect, but did not make it to the end of making them perfect. He said as well, that he wanted to do a fireworks recreation of the Titanic theme, and a recreation of a holiday piece. I would fulfill his dream, but I have no clue how to do it. If any of you knew him, maybe you could fulfill his dreams by making it, only to show the rest of vPyro. It's been a sad day for me, and hopefully you loved my brother.

R.I.P Josh
1995-2009

Hi everyone,

I am just posting in an attempt to boost the usage of these two modules. They are very very handy tools that you can use, for example if you are working on something and you need a place to upload your images then you can keep a running feed of images in specific albums, meaning that you don't have to use a slow service. You can also link any images into your posts, external locations and blogs, so you can truly use them anywhere!

Blogs are the same situation, they provide the form with a tool to keep up-to-date with projects, maybe some smaller changes you have made to a project that you want to let
us know about, or simply external projects, simply keep us up to date with your work, I speak for myself here, maybe others, but I love to browse and read through people's work, there images and anything they are planning of working on

Can I possibly just get feedback off people as to what you think we should do to improve these services? I will take note of any suggestions and start work on improving these to a more customisable standard for your usage!

Thanks,
Lewis

A Deserved Promotion

Claudio has been a consistently active member on this forum. He has always abided by the rules, and quickly grabbed my attention. He was and still is constantly active, so after a while I decided to reward his hard work with a global moderator position -- just like Dean gave to me all those years ago. He continued to excel, he is always the most visible moderator. He's always bringing the hammer down on those who persist in disrupting our great community. He's always there, keeping the forum in check and ensuring those who break the rules are dealt with swiftly. He is the King of Anti-Spam, people try and rush their 15 posts but Claudio is always there, and he always manages to catch them in his nets before they reach their goal. He has grown and evolved with the site and tries extremely hard in his job. Not only that, but most importantly, he has donated over £200 (that's over $450 USD for you Americans) to the site. Everything you see has been funded partially or fully out of his generous pockets. That my friends is dedication.

With that in mind, I am proud and honoured to promote Claudio to Co Administrator of vPyro!

I look forward to seeing him continue to serve us and serve us well.

Congratulations! Now we have to work on your overused exclamation point problem!

A good friend of mine has sent me info of some of the effects made by AT Mad included in the phase two pack completely transformed and retouched and changed for their own purpose and use.

This was strictly agains the rules AT Mad specified when he put this pack for download and these rules were clearly explained in the download page, that every modification of them was against his will.

I have therefore deleted the file to that pack and we will discuss what we will do in the future regarding phase 2.

The vPyro team is always evolving and changing so as to best meet the needs of the forum and its members. It's important that everyone is on top of their game and we have a force big enough to improve the website and keep it running smoothly. So with that, I'm proud to introduce the following people to the management of vPyro.

Kablary has been promoted to Global Moderator after displaying maturity, activity and friendliness on the site. He will be keeping a sharp eye on you all and we look forward to his work!

n7 has been re-invited back into the position of Global Moderator. He has been with us since the beginning of RCTPyro v2 at least, and can always be counted on to put the community first. He's also a very active presence in the show production area, and can always offer great reviews and comments for shows. Welcome back n7!

Anderson0511 has been promoted to Site Developer and will be working his magic with various graphical duties, web designs and other visual enhancements to the site. He's amongst the most active users and I'm proud to reward his dedication and activity with this position. Welcome Anderson!

These members have consistently displayed all the qualities needed not only to be a member of their respective role, but to be part of the management team. They are a credit to the forum and we are extremely proud to have them on board!

Post-to-download

Some of you will remember a while ago we introduced a policy that requires a certain amount of posts to download. You'll be pleased to know that we have re-introduced this policy as more and more people are intent on leeching from the site and contributing nothing. The reasoning behind this is simple, you give something to get something. Fair is fair. Nothing is free, let alone bandwidth, and donations aren't working so this is one of the options that we've chosen to impose. In addition, this is also being done in the hope (perhaps vain) that people will see what a wonderful community this is and be persuaded to take part.

You can read the full details here: http://forums.vpyro.com/READ-POST-TO-DOWNL...POLICY-a24.html

You will need 15 posts to download 5 files a day. Click the link above for more information.

I don't even need to tell you how hard my hammer will come down if people spam.
