Unfortunately, along with the lip-synching girl singing the national anthem, China also managed to fake the awesome footprint fireworks leading up to the Bird's Nest stadium at the Olympics Opening Ceremony.

Well I heard a different side of this story, The footprints we saw on TV and In the stadium where computer generated because it was too dangerous for the helicopter to follow them. But none the less there where real fireworks where it showed on the TV, Just the ones we saw where fake. They where nice fireworks overall though, and the effects where amazing throughout the show!

Impossible. Literally impossible. We have like £30 million to spend on the opening ceremony, China spent tons of billions of pounds on theirs. Not to mention we're far from disciplined enough to carry out grand spectacles like China's.

I'm still looking forward to it anyway... it's always a great show.

I think it's hilarious that everybody is throwing a huge fit over the footprint fireworks. Even one of Yahoo's Home Page storie was about the footprint fireworks.
Was anybody listening? The announcer on the NBC 4 broadcast of these Olympics said, as the helicopter was flying through the fireworks, "...this animation..." loud and clear. I remember it distinctly. That's how I knew it was fake, and seeing the story on Yahoo definitely blew me away, realizing that nobody caught those 2 words. -------------------- |

I was watching the CBC version, since you can receive that channel where I live in the States
(I like their coverage better than NBC's)
