This is one of the topics we most have as a must-to talk about:
Yesterday I went to a convention about the global warming and the effects it will come if we don’t act know. We also saw a video explaining how the USA contaminates the earth in extreme quantities. This is really important, we need to change our mind and we have to do something for our planet. Facts: · We have already consumed 25% of our planet and we will need 5 and half planets to cover that. · The percentage of sweet water available in the planet is only 3% and the drinkable water is only about 0,6% of this, if we keep consuming too much there will be no water in about 40 to 60 years. · The melting of the ice and the poles will make that the coasts of Miami and Florida disappear. · The whole planet will get in crisis in about 5 to 6 years if we continue like this. There’s a website called: www.storyofstuff.com that explains with a 20 minute video the problems we will be experiencing if we don’t change. ![]() -------------------- |

Yeah, most people are denial I think about Global warming. But it's just not America, places like China also are causing some of the polluting, Every like 7-10 days there's a new Coal Power Plant being built in China... We would need the whole world to listen, which it wont.

What do you mean by sweet water? like Soft Drinks and stuff? Plants and Animals (Humans aswell) don't keep the water they consume it just eventually leaves the body back into the environment one way or another. How would it be possible too use up all the water until none would be left if it's just recycled through the environment. There's also all of the salt water witch can be Distilled, and once the North Pole/Antarctica melt there's even more water for the environment. Soft drinks are normal water + a ton of chemicals and ingredients. Also, about the water running out, that's bull. By that reasoning, that means the rains will stop. For that to happen, the oceans have to disappear and while global warming effects are going to be bad, causing the oceans to vanish won't happen.
A lot of steps do indeed have to be taken, but the retarded world leaders won't do it. Fixed your link by the way, JP. -------------------- |

While the effects of global warming are measureable, such as observable melting of ice and an upward trend in temperatures, there is still much debate over 1) the casue of the warming, 2) weather or not humans can do anything about it and 2) weather or not a slightly warmer planet is even something worth worrynig about.
The problem is that the average person is getting a one-sided story, weather it be through the mainstream media (who love to tell us the sky is falling), the politicians (who love excuses to raise taxes or make new laws), environmentalists (who despise humanity in general and look for any excuse to slow progress) and liberals (who love to see themselves as appointed saviors of the universe). For these people, there is no debate and they refuse to debate it. Thus you are not going to hear the other side of the story without effort on your part to research it. It's pretty sad when you can't rely on the news and our educational institutions to present both sides of any given story, especially politically charged topics like global warming that scare people into almost a cult-like obsession with it. I'm sorry, but a seventh grader watching local temperatures for a few consecutive years does not make you an expert climatologist. There are plenty of real scientists out there on both sides of this argument, and Al Gore is NOT one of them. Neither is any other politician, news anchor, Hollywood celebrity or any other over compensated moron seeking the lime light. The same people trying to scare us with bunk predictions of coast lines going under water were telling us the next ice age was right around the corner 20 years ago. They just didn't have a propagandist like Al Gore to make a movie about it back then. |

I agree with Pyronaught; you never know what to believe anymore. The world has been dressed in black and white. Aye, Pyronuaght you are right, Al Gore - man I could shoot him. I had to watch it in my chemistry course, as we had to study the social/ethical sides to the argument, he was so up himself, just did not even give chance to step back and see the whole picture with the wider perspective. We will see in the fast coming future that this topic will rise to the spotlight again when the Ice Caps should be frozen again and they blame the decrease on us, once again.. That is if we make it past October 21st (first test on the LHC) -------------------- Lewtheo - vPyro Site Co-Administrator
