Ok I have a problem. I got a Nintendo Wii today and I would like to go on the internet. The only problem is it says that I need a SSID key. Its some sort of code. Does anybody know where I can find this code on my computer? Thanks!

The SSID (Service Set Identifier) Is the name in which you gave to the router service. But most of the time it should just search for the wireless service and place it on the list. And if needed all you should have to do is type in the WEP key, I too have a wii (Really Fun smile.gif ) and from what I can remember I thought i just had to add the WEP Key.

Your WEP key is the password you place on your router too prevent others from using your internet for free. Only way to get the Key is if you wrote it down or go to the router set up. Depending on the router you can access it multiple ways, I have a netgear so I go too www.routerlogin.net It gives me a message for name and password. The name is always "admin" the password is what you choose (not the key) but by default it's either pass, or password. And one more things, you may not have a key setup, some people do and some don't your choice.

The wii should scan you routers within the vicinity, and you should be able too find your router, then click it and if it requires a WEP Key, or Password (both the same) then enter it, if it doesn't that means you don't have one activated.

An SSID, in layman terms, is the name of your wireless network. You can find it in your access point/routers wireless configuration screen.

To get too your router configuration screen, type in the router IP Address and a login box will pop up. Default the name will always (i think) will be admin, the password by default is (pass, or password) but if you changed it or if someone else did you need to get it. Then when you login find the WEP key setup and such. There it should display the KEY, sorry I can't get into more detail I'm not familiar with the router you use.

In the address bar, I remembered a technique for getting your router IP if you are unaware of it. Go to Command prompt, it's the black empty box that many see but don't understand. Click in there and type this on a blank line "Ipconfig" without the quotations some text will pop up with about 3 sets of numbers, Try each one in the address bar until you get a box that pops up that asks for the login information. The numbers will look similar too this... 192.168.0.1

Try my best smile.gif I had my fair share of router issues (nothing agrees with my netgear router) everything has issues, especially with online games and video transfer. I have to use port forwarding for everything it seems. But my friend has a linksys with many of the same software and no problems...

For the ''ipconfig'' shouldn't it be ''ipconfig/all"? It gives some differnent keys. Anyways I did that but for my IP i got this.-fe80::211:d8ff:feb3:a92%4. Theres also a couple more like that. Also i did find a IP address,-64.53.223.169- I typed that in my browser and I did not get anything.

No, only type in ipconfig nothing else and hit enter, there will be a bunch of text look for the number to the right of "Default Gateway Adress" it will be on the same line and when you type that number in the address bar with the periods and such. A screen should pop up asking for log in information. I just confirmed it too work, not sure what happened when you entered it.
