Hey guys,
After some thinking, and some suggestions from one or two members, I've been thinking of a brand new RCTPyro. In a nutshell, I'm talking about converting this into a Virtual Pyrotechnics Site encompassing all forms of virtual pyrotechnics instead of RCT3 alone. I realise there probably isn't many — if any — other forms of virtual pyrotechnic tools out there currently, but with the development of ShowSim 3D (which is looking promising!) and the potential for other programs, I was toying with the idea that we should expand. Not right away, because there's no point but in the near future, when the demand calls for it. However, we all must admit that RCT3 is a dying game, we're part of its remnants now and it's losing popularity which is totally inevitable and accepted. People have left due to loss of interest, so why not keep the RCT3 section but add new sections and turn it into a comprehensive source for Virtual Pyro? Hopefully giving this site a boost it sorely needs? I understand people who dislike this idea: we're the only RCT3 Pyro site on the internet, which in itself is pretty spectacular. I understand people who want to keep it that way and not expand into other areas, but putting prestige aside I think we should move on and give this site an appeal boost. I reiterate: this is NOT a decision that, if the majority demand it, will be carried out straight away. We're looking at a month at least. I also plan to do some other updates: - New Skin - Removal of Blogs - Fix up the gallery and stuff - Add more features that coincide with the site itself, like special ranks for firework creators or somesuch. Let me hear you thoughts people This post has been edited by Brad: Jan 7 2008, 10:15 PM -------------------- |

Yes that would be so cool. Not that rctpyro is boring or anything but we do need change. I think we should have virutal pyro too. I vote yes!

Yeah, the RCT3 section(s) will still be retained, and we'll be under a different domain - something like http://vpyro.com or http://virtualpyrotechnics.com...

What will happen to the old domain name?

I think that this will attract new members because some people like fireworks, but dont want to buy rct3 or want a different program.

I didnt vote in the poll (it send me a message saying that an error happen), but it doesnt matter... I vote YES, I would like to have new projects here, without leaving out the lovely RollerCoaster Tycoon 3. I specially have an interest in ShowSim 3D that is looking really good, and for the two domain names you wrote Brad, I like more the first one its more shortly and mysterious, so it will make more people to introduce themselves here and explore the unknow world of pyro...
Thanks a lot for this suggestion!! This post has been edited by JPWDW: Jan 7 2008, 10:22 PM -------------------- |

I personally think the second domain is better - from a search engine point of view. Virtual Pyrotechnics is a hell of a lot more relevant than VPyro... but hey, there's no reason why we can't have both?

Vpyro is just an abriviated version of virtualpyrotechnics Sure, but if you search in any search engine there are too many Virtualpyrotechnics pages or webs for real products or real displays, but is still being a good name!.. -------------------- |

if people dont want this new change I think we should still have special ranks for firework creators and stuff. That would be cool.

Totally agree with this. Rollercoaster Tycoon is a dying game really and quite frankly I can't see there being a RCT4. As for domains, I like the second domain but I think that maybe a better name needs to be thought of. I know what Brads saying about the search engines but I think that the forum header saying "Virtual Pyrotechnics" wouldn't sound or look right. Maybe it's just me, so don't shoot me down for this one.

I think rct3 has a lot of life left, don't forget that people keeps creating new Custom scenery every day, just look at the Atari forums, there's no sign of slowing down, but I do agree that the mixmaster is not the most popular option of the game...(don't know why)
so yes, I agree with the changes in general. -------------------- ![]() claudio3:global mod:contact me: claudio@vpyro.com Signal to Noise/Colossal - released: http://files.rctpyro.com/index.php?dir=ilyxr%2F Dance of Fire - Released An Evening with the Masters- RELEASED |

Many people are discoruged by how the AFE is so complicated until they learn how to use it.
