I guess books *could* fall under media, so I posted this topic here. tongue.gif

What does everyone think of books and reading in general? I love a good book every now and then, but it has to be an excellent book that will keep me reading. A book I most recently finished is Fatherland. It's an alternative history novel which is about what Europe would be like if the Nazi's won World War II. It's an excellent read and the historical facts are really accurate.

What does everyone else read?

Just started "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" by Milan Kundera - I'm liking it so far (more info as I read more).

Generally I like reading, although finding time to do it can be an issue. I particularly like books about ideas and arguments etc - definitely not your typical Tom Clancy thriller tongue.gif

For some reason or another I'm into aviation thrillers tongue.gif

John J. Nance's books are amazing (if you're into that sort of thing)

Pandora's Clock is my favorite.

There is plenty of good reading around, over the last few years I have been following a few fantasy authors such as Raymond E Feist, Janny Wurts, David Eddings, Sara Douglas, Tony Shilitoe. There are many more but these are the first few that come to mind. Have a look around, many hours reading among all the authors. This list should keep you going for about 2 years, about 80 odd books > 400 pages each. If i have time i can read a 600 page book in about 8 hrs if i don't have time it could take 3 weeks. Flights are good like that.

Make sure you get the very first book in the series rather than jumping in 3 books too late. There are a few stand alone books within the series but they make more sense if you have read the whole thing (you don't have to read the whole series to pick up one of the stand alone books but you are missing out on a ton of good reading and story line).

I'm reading The Imagineer's Field Guide. It's a book written by the Imagineer's and theyt give some cool stuff you wouldn't notice about ecah of the parks in Florida. They even have concept art for stuff that wan't in any of the rides and they explain the making of the fireworks shows. It's pretty cool I got the guide for Epcot, and the Magic Kingdom. I already ordered the one for MGM studios.

There is one book coming out next March that covers every park in the world and even the town that they built and the cruise ships. I work at a book store so I know these things the only problem is that it's going to be 260 pages for $50 Canadian.

I actually got it for my 16th birthday in October. It's an amzing book.

Right now I'm reading the Kingdom Keepers. It's about five kids who audition to be DHI's (Digital Holographic Images) in the Magic Kingdom park. Then when they go to bed every night, they wake up in the park as a hologram, as the park's characters come alive and fool around. Then they have to solve some kind of mystery that Walt Disney kid in each ride before he died about how to stop the evil characters from coming into the real world outside the park.
