Since 2004 our members have been creating spectacular firework shows with Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 (RCT3) and have time and time again shocked the RCT3 world by designing dazzling shows pushing the boundaries of imagination. Learn how to create spectacular firework shows with music, lights, lasers, water and fire, download thousands of fireworks at your disposal, request specific fireworks to be made for you, join a Company and make shows with your friends and much much more. We also specialise in all other areas of virtual pyrotechnics, such as ShowSim 3D and all the other solutions. This is your one stop pyrotechnics and fireworks site. You know who you are.

I was afraid this would happen. I installed the rating system based on putting my trust in people to use it responsibly and rate posts truthfully instead of spamming ratings and, for example, labeling a perfectly acceptable post as "Spam" or "Unfriendly". Only a few have done this, but that doesn't change the fact that they shouldn't be doing it. The system doesn't come with permissions so I can't ban people from rating. I can, however, ban people from RCTPyro and that's exactly what I'll do.

Alternatively, if abuse of the system begins to rise. I'll just remove it. It's a privilege to be able to rate posts, not a right. Keep that in mind. So, here's what will happen:
  1. We will do periodic checks on members and check what they've rated.
  2. If their ratings are fraudulent, they will be warned. (They might be suspended depending on the severity of the abuse)
  3. If they continue to abuse it when they come back, they'll be banned permanently.

Check & Mate - Agree with you 100%.. Some people are massively mocking the system and frankly, its just not fair! It is very stupid and gives the community a bad name and feel to be around if you are having your votes dis-honestly voted for

First, this is probably the best community I have come across and most of the members are kind, courteous, and honest. But, in every community, there are those that will do whatever they want, no matter the consequences. In the real world, things are not so black and white, as you would like them to be here. And sometimes, you and the mod squad come down on people a little too harshly over what could have been a simple mistake.

Don't get me wrong, I definately agree with you here. People need to read and follow the rules, use common sense when posting and rating, and generally be a part of the community in a positive way.

But, being too strict and sounding like a tyrant will drive new members away, as well. I understand that you are in charge, but, there are people here from all over the world. You're going to get the good, the bad, and the ones who don't mean to be bad. You have to know when to punish and when not to. Please, don't just start handing out bans without thoughtful consideration. Thanks!

I never issue out any form of 'punishment', if you will, without careful consideration. In this instance, it simply isn't a simple mistake. Me and my staff are firm but fair. When someone breaks the rules, they are dealt with according to the procedure. On a forum, it is black and white. You follow the rules or you don't. wink.gif

I'm strict because I have to be, if I just sit here and say "It's okay, just be careful next time!" whenever someone breaks a rule, the forums would be swamped. The courteous, kind and honest qualities you speak of would probably be lost.

I value your thoughts, arector, feel free to post this in a topic in Site Feedback if you'd like to discuss this fully. smile.gif
